Candle Dance is the name chosen for our home school (or life school, as I prefer to call it) by 5-year-old “Zuzu” after being inspired by a musical number at a Christmas program. I like the imagery of a dancing flame and think it suits us.
This is the first year of our homeschooling journey. We are using Five in a Row as the backbone of our kindergarten program and will also read from other booklists in Ambleside Online and Homeschool Share. We’ll add Charlotte Mason-style copywork and nature walks and journals for science, and are using various manipulatives and ideas from Ruth Beechick’s Three Rs for math. We like Rocket Phonics and Bob Books so far for reading.
